Who knew that the local shopkeeper is a sensational singer or that the neighbor you always run into at the coffee shop rocks out with a band on weekends? Actually, Garagista Music founder Al Cattabiani did, and he rounded up all the Rivertown talent he could find for his new record label. What started with two compilation CDs, Rivertown Rock and Rivertown Voices, has now grown to include a few single artist albums (and tons of free downloads on the website). And, because of Cattabiani, music fans outside our county are catching wise to our local talent -- Jazz Improv Magazine called Nicole Pasternak’s Garagista-released album, In A Word, “a pleasure to hear.” Fill up your iPod now, before these artists hit it big and the chance for a free download is but a distant memory.
