"John McNeil's 'Becoming an Improvisor', is one of the most clear and concise examples that
I've come across in a long time. The material presented is, in my opinion, the right way to
introduce players to the use of scales, for both modal, and standard chord progressions.
The verbal sections are delivered slowly, and surely (which is how McNeil suggests to practice),
and the playing examples are extremely musical. Besides they look good too!!
I highly recommend 'Becoming an Improvisor'. "

"John McNeil always manages to find imaginative ways to understand and integrate the concepts of
jazz improvisation. This new book and DVD is no different -- checking this out will give students
a fresh way to break down the materials of jazz. Practicing this way will make one a better player.
Plus John is funny, which definitely adds to the package. Thanks again, John."
